The Quake 05:41
THE QUAKE Your bones do quake when you’re drunk you make conversations on topics that your heart can’t shake cigarettes pile up and The whiskey in that bottle’s getting low We won’t talk about this anymore Take time to consider speaking words out loud Take a chance on simply letting something out Take time to consider I know that sin hiding words within taking no time off to gather right no you just fly or fight isolate and fail You’ve built a box to hide your sorrows Put a new lock on it tomorrow Take time to consider speaking words out loud Take a chance on simply letting something out Take time to consider The whiskey in that bottle’s getting low We won’t talk about this tomorrow Take time to consider speaking words out loud Take a chance on simply letting something out Take time to consider Take time to consider Take time to consider…

Waking Up 03:12
WAKING UP Waking up sounds reach within Stayed up late last night again Half past midnight in my bed Sleep so greedy, I can’t stand Steal away from undertow Whirring voices I don’t know Cannot speak or understand Grip is slipping through my hands Why then would I want to Spend just one more night with you Fighting sleep up in a lonely room When all I long to do Is curl up in that corner low Pull the trigger calm and slow There’s no alibi I now Wave as I exit the show

Hello Baby 03:31
HELLO BABY Hello baby I can’t see you, but I know where you are Warm and safe with a journey so far When you move, it’s a comfort It ain’t much, but I love it It makes me smile Hello, baby I don’t know you will we get along When will I learn you and will you sing my song And when you cry can my breath And my voice and my chest Soothe your ears When you roll against my fingertips I know you feel me there too How I long to feel your fingertips when they’re Holding me close to you Will you be scared? Will you worry? Will you revere something that’s worthy? And, when you fall down, when will you rise up? Will I be stronger than the hardest stuff? I will

Angel Island 02:58
ANGEL ISLAND Angel island. Lit and longing. Wanting all things to do with thee. Simple. Silent. Seeking. Finding. Lost for nothing. For you. For me. And so, we wait to seal our fate in one embrace or another. We wait. Single blessing. Rain caressing. Tied and twisted to do with thee. Earth come quaking. Silence breaking. All or something. For you. For me. And so, we wait to seal our fate in one embrace or another. We wait.

LOVE IS A BORE Out in the sea With a tailwind behind Wandering free With my sweet clementine And you don’t have to love anymore No, you don’t have to love anymore At the same time There’s a current before Dragging the line Pulling hard to old shores Saying “all of your love is a bore” Calling “all of your love is a bore” Screaming “all of your love is a bore” Dragging all of your love to the floor

Unafraid 01:57
UNAFRAID There are moments in my mind which speak of self-protection self-preservation They tell me this and that and sometimes that “this” is not “that” Sometimes that “this” is a problem and “that” should be worried about Sometimes that “this” is too much and “that” will overwhelm you until you crumble and remember that nothing ever works They pretend not to be fear Still, other moments in my mind tell me to love freely and abandon fear They tell me to explore and spend time and pay attention to the moment in the moment They tell me that I know how to take care of myself They say “of course there is still fear, but it doesn’t have to be scary” They tell me to hold no fear for I am the god of my self and that god is love These are the moments which make me unafraid of anything

WEATHERED FORMS Smoke and…smoke and grace Breathe in outside space Count and slow the pace Relive my last place And the storms wail upon the beaches She warns, “you're failing over me now, babe” There's no tellin’ how much more Weathered these forms take There's no end of days Endings are so damn gray In the middle stay awake Begin where you lay And the storms wail upon the beaches She warns, “you're failing over me now, babe” There's no tellin’ how much more Weathered these forms Weathered these forms

about

Philadelphia singer-songwriter, Joshua Park, is releasing his fifth EP, “The Quake.” While 2018 release, “The Flood,” used full-band arrangements to tell tales of desire, delusion, love, and hope, “The Quake” features a series of quiet songs, written over the past ten years; sharpened in Joshua’s living room while his seven-year-old son slept quietly upstairs. As a whole, “The Quake” tells stories centered on life’s demand to balance fear and anxiety with joy and hope. Relying on the insight and inspiration of musicians near and far, as well as the emotional catharsis of his own songwriting, music has always helped Joshua to find that difficult balance in his life.

For “The Quake,” Joshua headed to Cambridge Sound Studios with Brad Hinton (Brad Hinton Band, Tin Bird Choir) to co-produce the project. They spent a day recording live takes of the lead vocals and acoustic guitar for the songs that would make up the album. From there, Joshua and Brad enlisted the help of Philip D’Agostino (Get the Led Out) on double bass, Kiley Ryan (Chris Kasper, Hezekiah Jones) on violin, Raphael Cutrufello (Hezekiah Jones) on various keys, and Carl Cheeseman (Birdie Busch, Psalmships, The Waywards) on lap steel and banjo to bring haunting touches, enhance each song’s depth, and weave a fine thread through the record.
